Dressed in a flowing red gown, Fernandez embraced runner up Miss Dominican Republic as the announcement was made, and received the crown from last year's winner, Dayana Mendoza, of Venezuela. The sparkling tiara fell to the floor at one point, as Fernandez danced in joy.
Venezuela, a beauty-obsessed South American country, has won the Miss Universe pageant six times.

After watching Heidi Montag's performance of "Body Language" on last night's Miss Universe more times than I care to admit, I realized that this was the perfect platform for her performance. Throughout the three segments (edited together for your viewing "pleasure" below) Heidi's moves had the energy, skill and precision of a beauty pageant contestant -- the kind you see on "Toddlers & Tiaras."It was not only painful to watch, but sad at the same time, because you know the Speidi delusional spin-machine is in full force this morning. I'm just as certain a press release touting a Heidi-related ratings spike will be mass-emailed as I am that she walked off the stage thinking she perfectly emulated the sex appeal and talent Britney Spears delivered during her iconic 2000 VMA rendition of "Oops...I Did It Again."In reality, Heidi has swiped the worst live performance crown from Brit's drugged up and striped down "Gimme More" in 2007. At least Britney had champagne and Percocet to hang her crown on -- what's Heidi's excuse? The recession has made the folks in Hollywood just as nervous as the rest of us. Budgets these days are more conservative and studios are banking on already established franchises, like we saw this past weekend with the latest chapter in the Fast & The Furious stories.

Yes, Hollywood has always been into remaking movies, but now there are fewer new projects in the pipeline and execs are going with what they perceive to be safer bets.

How is Hollywood saving? Advertising. The execs and the rest of us have either grown up on these movies, or already know all about them. There is a built-in brand awareness.

The producer of "Furious", Neil Moritz is working on a remake of the 1990 sci-fi hit "Total Recall" and will re-launch "XXX", a seven-year old film. Eight years later, "Lara Croft" is being redone and we hear that Fox is considering a re-launch of the "Fantastic Four" movies.

We already know that Footloose is in the works. Zac Efron was originally cast as Ren, but he pulled out last month. Now, the latest rumor is that Tom Cruise wants to star with John Travolta in a remake of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, the 1969 classic that starred Paul Newman and Robert Redford.

It's tough for us to imagine how these classic movies will be remade, and be better than the original. Remakes seem more intuitive with actions flicks where today's technology blows the original away.

What's next? "Titanic" or "Forrest Gump"? These classics were movie magic and shouldn't be touched.

"It's absolute hell," Lohan tells Us Weekly of the weekend showdown, which included her being banned from Charlotte Ronson's party, and Sam changing the locks on her house. LiLo describes Friday, the night she was banned from Ronson's party at Chateau Marmont, as "the worst night of my life."

"I'm not a bad person and this is what happens," LiLo told the magazine, crying. "I was raised to treat people well, and I'm so tired of this drama." Clearly, she's not the only one! Lindz also admitted that she's "so alone" without Ronson by her side.

Sam isn't the only girl in Hollywood who has cut Lindsay out -- Lohan describes how on Friday night, both Nicole Richie and Drea De Matteo were rude to her at the Chateau. "I'm a f***ing 22-year-old girl who's in love," she says. "I felt like I was in 'Mean Girls,' but worse: 'Mean Girls' was a movie."

Despite her pain, Lindsay says she's okay -- and denies reports she's suicidal. "I'm just really hurt!" she said. "The whole situation is sick."

Sounds like actress Lindsay Lohan is dealing with a real life Mean Girls situation.

Lindsay Lohan was indeed denied entry Friday night into the launch party hosted by girlfriend Samantha Ronson's sister, Charlotte, for Lindsay Lohan JC Penney clothing line.

News has also learned the couple later reunited at an after-party in a room at the Chateau Marmont. The party drama outside Bar Marmont was just the latest battle in an ongoing feud between Lohan and the Ronson family, as well as several anti-SamRo pals, including Nicole Richie.

Despite photos and video circulating online of the locks being changed at the home Ronson shares with Lohan, sources close to the actress insist that as of Sunday the couple had not broken up.

Instead, insiders say the pair recently have been fighting over efforts by Ronson's friends and family, particularly mom Ann and sister Charlotte, to convince Sam part to ways with her ladylove.

"A posse of people have been pushing her to leave Lindsay since day one," says a source. "They make Lindsay out to Sam to be an outcast and a bully, or a wacko."

The "smear campaign," as one Lohan source describes it, is apparently taking a toll on Lohan.

"Lindsay Lohan in love with Samantha and cries every day over some 'friend' of Sam's who tells her lies to get her to not trust or love her. Samantha has been put in a position of consistently having to choose a dinner without Lindsay or not going at all. Their childish games are pathetic and all-mean spirited."

Although many of Ronson's inner circle believe the tabloid-magnet Lohan is too much trouble for the high-priced DJ, a source close to the couple tells E! News that Lohan is often the one keeping a troubled Ronson living healthy and protected from her own family pressures.

"Lindsay's the one who reminds Samantha to eat, makes sure she rests, goes to the doctor, gets massages for her arthritis, packs her bag with her Sudafed when she travels, encourages her to write and sing, and tells her every day how beautiful she really is."

One source says it's exactly the kind of support Samantha doesn't get enough of from her own family. "Mark never supports her music and it makes her cry," says the source. "Charlotte makes Samantha chase her all over town and says 'don't bring Lindsay,' and her mother tells her she's too skinny, looks like a bum, and doesn't make enough money."

Upset over her diss at the hands of the Ronsons, Lohan, who saw Samantha later the night of the Bar Marmont incident, Lohan has been spending time with her mom Dina and sister, Ali, at her own home in the Hollywood Hills.

Farrah Fawcett, who has struggled with cancer since 2006, has checked into a Los Angeles hospital but is "not on death's door," a producer who has worked with the actress told The Associated Press on Monday.

Craig Nevius confirmed early Monday that the 62-year-old "Charlie's Angels" star, who was reportedly diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006, was hospitalized because of a blood clot that was likely a side effect of treatment she recently had in Germany.

"Farrah Fawcett doing fantastic," Nevius said in a phone interview. "Farrah Fawcett fight goes on. ... Farrah Fawcett not going anywhere anytime soon."

The hospitalization was first reported by RadarOnline.com. Fawcett's doctor, Lawrence Piro, said that Fawcett had abdominal bleeding and a hematoma after undergoing aggressive alternative cancer treatments in Germany.

After the procedure, Piro said Farrah Fawcett flew back to Los Angeles because Farrah Fawcett was anxious to come home. "It turned out that the procedure caused a small amount of bleeding in one of the muscles of her abdomen, making a hematoma, which was quite painful."

Piro, who says he regularly consults with her doctors in Germany, said in a statement made available to the AP on Monday that Fawcett was using a wheelchair because it was painful for her to walk. "That pain, which was coming from the hematoma, had nothing directly to do with the cancer."

Added Piro: "She remains in good spirits with her usual sense of humor. She's been in great shape her whole life and has an incredible resolve and an incredible resilience."

Nevius is the producer of Fawcett's upcoming documentary chronicling Farrah Fawcett battle against cancer, "A Wing and A Prayer." The actress was diagnosed with the disease in October 2006; after undergoing chemotherapy and radiation, Fawcett got a clean bill of health in early 2007.

Top 10 Results of Top 10 American Idol

Over thirty-six million votes were logged in to determine the American Idol contestant who would be eliminated at the end of the Thursday night results show. This group of Top 10 is on the tour, sure, but only nine will be on the show next week.Ryan Seacrest opened the show by asking Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul about their shenanigans during the Wednesday performance round. He then reminded the audience about the judges’ save, the Get Out of Elimination Free card which will be used on one lucky contestant this season.

And perhaps…on this results night?

Before any results could be displayed, the Top 10 performed a Motown medley. The three girls in the contest did a Supremes tribute that was fairly cute, but the rest of the number was a lot of bad mishmash. The Ford music video was again incredibly boring - completely white set and an uninteresting song.Ruben Studdard, the winner of Season 2 (amid much controversy), then returned to the Idol stage to whip the crowd into a frenzy.Ruben always looks and sounds nice when he returns to the reality stage, and this performance was no exception. It’s smooth vocals and sweet love songs all the way with Studdard.But then, Ryan Seacrest turned to the bleachers where the Idols waited. Adam Lambert was featured first - the audience went nuts at the mere mention of his name. Obviously, Lambert was safe for the evening - there’s some that speculate he’s been the top vote-getter in the competition, so far. Seacrest then announced that Matt Giraud was astonishingly in the bottom three for the week. He’s got great vocals and obvious judge love, but often the starting position on performance night can hurt Idol contestants. Kris Allen got psyched out a bit by Seacrest, but he’s still safely in the competition.

Lil Rounds and Michael Sarver were then asked to stand up together. Lil was able to stay on the bleachers, but Michael moved to join Matt off to the side of the stage. Just like that, and two of the bottom three were revealed. Who would join them in this unsafe group?
The audience wouldn’t find out until after Smokey Robinson and Joss Stone took to the stage - it was the next tidbit on the evening’s line-up. Stone started the performance of in a beautiful blue gown; she was soon joined by Smokey, who looked great in gray. All fashion aside, I didn’t like the duet. Smokey sang underneath Joss the whole time, who tried to reach down to his level but couldn’t. Together, they didn’t seem to blend well at all and frankly, Robinson didn’t sound the greatest I’ve ever heard him. Mind you, before this results show I’m pretty sure the last televised performance of his I saw was on Sesame Street. The number was excruciating and just couldn’t end quickly enough, but eventually this thing, too, did pass.

It was time for more results. Allison Iraheta, one of the bottom three last week, was asked to stand next. This time around, however, Allison’s safe - for about seven more days. Anoop Desai, still a big fan favorite, was the next to be granted a stay of safety. It was then Danny Gokey’s turn - he’s also safe, and no shock there. Scott MacIntyre and Megan Joy were featured together; Megan Joy emerged the victor in that battle, shockingly enough. Scott MacIntyre was guided to the center of the stage with Matt Giraud and Michael Sarver. MacIntyre was an early favorite; Giraud is a judges’ pet. It’s surprising to see either of these two in the bottom group. Randy Jackson believes Matt has been “consistently” performing well on the Idol stage. After a few suspense-building moments, Scott MacIntyre was sent back to safety - sigh of relief. Seacrest guided him into position; only two remained at center stage now.Ryan Seacrest asked Simon Cowell about the possibility of a judges’ save. “Well, they’re there because the public doesn’t like them very much,” Cowell shot out his reply. “So what we will do is make a decision based on - whoever it is - their final performance.” That performance would not be featured next, however. First, it was time for Stevie Wonder to perform a “Motown medley.” He still sounds the same, and I mean that in the most complimentary way possible. The medley might have gone on about three songs too long, though. Really, sometimes less is more.The headliner of the evening, at any rate, was not Stevie Wonder but the results themselves - which Idol was to be sent packing, off to join the realm of TV re-caps and early-morning talk shows for the next few days? Matt Giraud looked utterly upset while he stood on stage next to Michael Sarver, who by contrast was amazingly relaxed. It was Michael who failed to score enough votes, but he continued to carry a smile. Charisma. When the music started, Sarver again showed off his great vocals - this guy can really, really sing. As Paula Abdul danced, Kara DioGuardi, Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell made a show of discussing Michael’s fate on the show.

Sarver’s performance on results night was indeed better than the number he offered up the evening before.But alas, it was not meant to be. Seacrest asked Simon Cowell the verdict. “We haven’t decided,” the judge admitted, and the panel continue to mumble amongst themselves. “I’m gonna make a decision,” Simon spread his arms out wide. “Michael, you’re going home.”And that, was that.Some people may end up saying Simon Cowell was a little harsh, even cold. But I’ve always liked a man of action - and Cowell just can’t do any wrong in my eyes. Sometimes, people end up having to go home. And Michael Sarver was my favorite, so now I’m shopping around for my new Idol contender.

One thing is very clear. Michael Sarver, the latest contestant to get the ol' heave-ho from American Idol, is not going back to his day job in Jasper, Texas.

"Well, number one, I will not be going back to the oil rig," says Michael during the press conference call this morning. "I don't think it would be a great idea to get out there and take a chance on hurting myself and not being available for the tour."

Good idea, Michael. So what do you plan to do then?

"I'm going home," he says. "And I'm going to take some time off to spend with my family. I believe they deserve my undivided attention for a little while, and that's exactly what they're going to get."

Michael admits that he was ready to go home. "Once I found out I was going home," he says, "the best part of it is that I have an incredible family to go home to. I couldn't be more excited than to find myself on that plane heading in that direction."

In Los Angeles, a person close to the family, who asked not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the matter, confirmed that Richardson landed in New York after leaving Montreal's Sacre-Coeur hospital in the afternoon, where Natasha Richardson was treated after falling during a private lesson Monday at the famed Mont Tremblant ski resort.

The person did not say if or where the actress was being treated in New York.

Richardson, 45, is the elder daughter of Oscar-winning actress Vanessa Redgrave and the late director Tony Richardson, and belongs to the British acting dynasty.

"We know that Natasha Richardson has had an accident but we really do not know any more details," said Kika Markham, who is married to Richardson's uncle, Corin Redgrave. "We are very concerned."

A statement from the Mont Tremblant resort said Richardson fell on a beginners trail and later reported not feeling well.

"Natasha Richardson did not show any visible sign of injury but the ski patrol followed strict procedures and brought Natasha Richardson back to the bottom of the slope and insisted she should see a doctor," said the statement from the resort, about 80 miles northwest of Montreal.

The ski resort said the instructor and a member of the ski patrol accompanied Richardson to her hotel, where they again recommended she should be seen by a doctor.

Mont Tremblant spokeswoman Catherine Lacasse said Richardson said she was fine at first.

"An hour later Natasha Richardson said Natasha Richardson didn't feel well. Natasha Richardsonhad a headache, so we sent Natasha Richardson to the hospital," Lacasse said. "There were no signs of impact and no blood, nothing."

An ambulance was called and Richardson eventually was transferred to Sacre-Coeur hospital in Montreal.

Neeson immediately left the Toronto set of his upcoming movie, "Chloe," for Montreal, a publicist for the film said.

Richardson's films include "Gothic," "A Month in the Country," "Nell" (in which she appeared with her future husband), "The Parent Trap" and "Maid in Manhattan."

Trained at London's Central School of Speech and Drama, Richardson has had extensive stage experience in the West End and Broadway. She won a Tony in 1998 for playing Sally Bowles in a revival of "Cabaret."

Her maternal grandparents were the actors Michael Redgrave and Rachel Kempson, and her uncle Corin and aunt Lynn Redgrave are both actors. Sister Joely Richardson is also an actress, best known for starring in the TV series "Nip/Tuck."

In January, Richardson and her mother played the roles of mother and daughter in a one-night benefit concert version of "A Little Night Music," the Stephen Sondheim-Hugh Wheeler musical, at Studio 54 in New York.

She married Neeson in 1994, and the couple have two sons, aged 13 and 12.

People magazine published a report Friday (March 13) denying that Rihanna and Chris Brown recorded a duet together last month. Just Thursday, CNN reported that producer Polow Da Don had overseen the pair's recording sessions after Brown was charged with two felonies in the alleged altercation.

"The reports are inaccurate," Polow's publicist, Laura Wright, told UsMagazine.com on Friday, calling the CNN report misinformed. "The duet was recorded long before the incident."

"Contrary to published reports, Chris Brown and Rihanna did not record a duet after the incident," echoed the People report, quoting a "label source" with knowledge of the recording.

The confusion seems to be the result of a demo recorded by Brown and Rihanna in 2008, which Polow Da Don spoke with MTV News about after it leaked onto the Internet in January. According to the People source, their "reference vocals" were meant to instruct the eventual singers on how to do the song. The track, titled "Bad Girl," was intended to be on the soundtrack for the recent film "Confessions of a Shopaholic" and was eventually recorded by the Pussycat Dolls.

"Nothing has been recorded by Chris and Rihanna together since February," insisted the People source.

A reviewer in People Magazine said of her kickoff concert in her home state of Louisiana, "Don't call it a comeback quite yet." Shahrukh Khan will go at great lengths to do what he needs to do to promote a film. This time around it's good to be a barber in India. Shahrukh Khan has decide to continue and do what he has to so he can spread the word about his upcoming movie. It has been reported that the actor is going all out to promote his latest flick "Billu Barber" which stars Irrfan Khan and Lara Dutta, with the badshah himself playing an important role in the film.

Recently we told you that Shahrukh Khan's wife would not be accepting gifts for Valentine's Day from her husband unless "Billu Barber" did well in the box office. So it is no surprise to us that Shahrukh Khan has gone out of his way to make sure this movie is a success. To help promote the movie and make sure it is a hit, he has decided to show the film to around four hundred barbers before it is shown on the big screen all over India and beyond. Of course, we are certain that the barbers are very excited to get an invite from the King himself. We can't help but wonder what the verdict of the professionals will be at Shahrukh Khan's portrayal, but we are sure that he will prove to be as great as ever! Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly announced that he would get the title of ‘Billu Barber’ changed, as requested by ‘The Salon and Beauty Parlours Association’.

If The Salon and Beauty Parlors Association has its way, Shah Rukh Khan will have to rename his film Billu Barber to Billu hairdresser. The association has allegedly problem with the word barber as they find it “derogatory and insulting term”.

SRK’s decision is in response to the demands of the hairdressers’ association, which finds the word ‘barber’ offensive. They expressed their objection when Shah Rukh tied up with over 500 barber shops across the city and sent them the cassettes and CDs of the film to be displayed and played at their shops.

“But I want it to be held on February 9, so that if there’s anything objectionable in the film, we can get it changed. If they don’t, the association members will take to the streets to protest against the film. There are 27000 association members in Mumbai and 3.5 lakh in Maharashtra.” According to Uday Takke, The President of the association

She's a multi-million dollar earning movie star, but Reese Witherpoon is just like any other mom to her two children - embarrassing at times.

The Oscar-winning actress recently opened up to Parents magazine about a situation that occurred while taking her 9-year-old daughter Ava to see country star perform.

"She (Ava) said, 'Mom I really appreciate you taking me to the concert, but will you please not embarrass me in front of by singing because she's a real singer and you're just, like a movie singer," says Witherspoon about her daughter referring to her role as June Carter Cash in 2005's "Walk the Line".

Reese's singing voice, even with the award for her role, has failed to impress her daughter. “I love to sing around the house and in the car, but my daughter hates it.”

But Witherspoon loves that they see her simply as a mom and not anything else. “Realizing you’re not anything special to the kids is always a great sort of reminder that you’re just a regular person,” she said about Ava and son Deacon, 5. “A regular embarrassing old mom.”

But for as many movies as the "Sweet Home Alabama" starlet has been in, the children have not seen their mom at work. “They know what I do for a living - that I’m an actress. But they haven’t seen any of my movies. Yet.”

And Witherspoon enjoys the simple things in being a mom such as picking up the kids from class. “I do get to be there for school fairs, plays..It’s so shocking to see my children in school and having an entire life without me.”

When Hollywood stars hit the red carpet in hopes of snagging an Oscar, sometimes they should be careful what they wish for.

An Academy Award can cap a career like that of director Martin Scorsese ("The Departed") or put a veteran actor like Chris Cooper ("Adaptation") on Hollywood's map with greater access to better roles and higher salaries.

But for others it can be a box-office curse. Past winners Nicole Kidman, Renee Zellweger, Halle Berry, Adrien Brody and Cuba Gooding Jr. have not had a major hit in years, even though many are still sought after by Hollywood studios.

Kidman won an Oscar for 2002's "The Hours," but has never headlined a big hit. The actress starred in recent Oscar hopeful "Australia," which failed to win any major awards and flopped at the box office.

"Considering how many bombs she's done, it's pretty surprising that she's still out there chugging away," said John Wilson, who honors the year's worst movies during the annual Razzie Awards, which will be given out Saturday.

Since winning her Oscar for a supporting role in 2003's "Cold Mountain," Zellweger's career went cold with such films as "Cinderella Man" and "Leatherheads." Her last film, the romantic comedy "New in Town," earned $6.7 million during its opening weekend last month.

Berry, the Oscar winner for 2001's "Monster's Ball," added a Razzie three years later for "Catwoman" and gallantly showed up to accept. Berry, who gave birth to her first child in 2008, has not been seen in theaters since her Oscar hopeful "Things We Lost in the Fire" was quickly doused in 2007.
